CM 7 & CM 6

Yes we got it CyanogenMod for the Ascend.
 Guide

Please people if your device is not rooted don't do this go to the market download z4root and and root your device then proceed with this guide.
 This will have bugs.

Your device has to be rooted ! Z4root will do this

2. Download Rom Manager From the market to install Clock Work Mod Recovery
3. Make a nandroid backup


   This will ensure you that you wont break your phone
   (Make sure your sd card is mounted)
   After installing Cwm boot your phone into recovery mode
   (vol up /send /click power) 
   Once inside of recovery mode select backup and restore and then select back up.
   (Now stay in recovery mode to flash cm7)
4. Time to flash Cm 7 or Cm 6

  • Use the trackball to scroll  to wipe data/factory reset. .
  • Next, go to wipe cache patition.
  • Now, go to advanced and Wipe dalvik cache.
  • Now, go to  mounts and storage, format following 
  1. Boot
  2. Data 
  3. System cache

   Now your ready to flash !





   Go  to install zip from sd card.

  • Choose zip from sd card now choose the Cyanogen mod Rom you downloaded.
  • After it flashes go back by pressing the back key and go to install from sd card again then choose zip and install the gapps zip!
  • You have flashed Cyanogen mod! Now go back to the main menu and reboot
 (Note reboot time should be a long time up to 10min)

5. Concern Notes


To enable MMS for MetroPCS users (not Cricket users), a separate package needs to be flashed. CWM 2.5.1.8 is no longer a requirement to use this fix. It's now compatible with CWM 3.x.x.x. In order to get this working, follow these steps:
  • Download the latest version of MetrOFF: MetrOFF-v1.3-MMS-GB-Edify-CM_ASOP-No_Roaming_indicator_Off_signed.zip
  • Make sure you've booted into CM7 at least once.
  • Reboot into recovery and flash the zip
  • Reboot back into CM7 and go to Voice Dialer and say, "Open APNs"
  • In the menu that appears, press the dot button for MetroPCS. Make sure the dot button turns green.

    Same here on my Cricket ascend!! went from icarus1.0(had mms issues) but loaded right up and will see what CM7(2.3.3) can do

    MMS still now working. I downloaded the .zips from xda site provided and said "installation aborted" i try to install all 3 just to see what it would do and same response. can someone help. i am running on cm7 metro pcs

    Everything works great except mms. i have metro and running on cm7 5022011. I installed metrooff. i can send pictures but not receive. can someone help

    Everything works great on my ascend except for mms pic! Aslong as they are with metro, it will download,If its with a sprint or another company, it will show up but it;ll say unable to download

    Thanks yo. My lame-ass Ascend finally feels fast enough to be a real smartphone, and MMS is working for the first time in months. (I broke MMS on my stock ROM... Whoops.)

    on my wife phone she has the same it takes like 10 times of taking the battery out for it to start it gets stuck on the tron droid but after a few times of taking the battery out alls well works great thanks

    the new boot screens are much better, and it runs very well. i need to know what apps to get to get everything running at top speeds. i have set cpu, busybox, shark, root explorer. anything else?

    My wifi messed up when i flashed to cm6, i turn it on, it says scanning then it turns off. so i restored and flashed cm7 and still i got the same problem, can i anyone help me to fix it or is there another rom i can use? i have a cricket
